Junior Studio IT Technician

Role & Key Responsibilities:
The Junior Studio IT Technician supports the Studio IT Team in maintaining the day-to-day technical operation of all IT systems within the Studio environment. Working under the guidance of the Studio IT Technician and Head of Technical Operations, the Junior Technician assists with first-line IT support, routine maintenance, hardware setup, and studio build tasks. This is a hands-on, learning-focused role designed for an individual who is building their IT career in a live broadcast environment - developing technical skills while contributing directly to the reliability of live studio production.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-Day IT Support:
Assist in providing first-line technical support for Studio IT systems including Dealer Tool PCs, monitors, peripherals, and studio network infrastructure.
Respond to basic IT incidents under the direction of the Studio IT Engineers - hardware faults, connectivity issues, peripheral failures.
Escalate issues promptly and accurately to the Studio IT Engineers when beyond current skill level.
Log all incidents and actions in the Jira ticketing system accurately and in a timely manner.
Carry out routine system checks and monitoring tasks as directed - flagging anomalies to the senior technician.
Hardware & Infrastructure Support:
Assist in the installation, configuration, and basic setup of Dealer Tool PCs, monitors, and studio IT peripherals.
Support cabling, patching, and cable management tasks across studio environments and server rooms.
Assist with the setup and basic configuration of networking equipment under supervision - switches, access points, patch panels.
Support CCTV camera installation and NVR setup under the direction of the Studio IT Engineers.
Perform routine maintenance tasks - equipment cleaning, firmware update preparation, and hardware health checks.
New Builds & Studio Launches:
Support the Studio IT Technician during new table builds and studio commissioning - assisting with physical installation, cabling, and equipment setup.
Assist in the completion of the IT section of the Technical QA Checklist under supervision.
Participate in studio go-live readiness checks and support the team during launch activities.
Help maintain the Studio IT asset register - logging new equipment and updating inventory records.
Security & Compliance:
Follow all corporate IT security policies and access control procedures at all times.
Report any security concerns, suspicious activity, or policy breaches to the Studio IT Engineers or Head of Technical Operations immediately.
Assist with audit and compliance tasks as directed.
Documentation:
Assist in maintaining accurate documentation for studio IT systems, configurations, and incident resolutions.
Keep Jira tickets up to date - clear descriptions, actions taken, and resolution notes.
Support the team in keeping the Confluence documentation and asset inventory current.
Requirements
Essential:
Basic understanding of IT fundamentals - hardware components, Windows operating systems, and networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
Eagerness to learn in a fast-paced, live production environment - proactive attitude and willingness to take direction.
Good problem-solving skills - methodical and logical approach to basic fault diagnosis.
Strong communication skills - able to take clear notes, log incidents accurately, and communicate issues to the team.
Reliable and punctual - studio IT support is time-critical and the team depends on each member showing up ready to work.
Comfortable with physical tasks - cable management, moving hardware, working under desks and in rack spaces.
Desirable:
Any hands-on IT experience - internship, personal projects, home lab, or entry-level support role.
Basic familiarity with networking - ability to read an IP address, understand subnets, and connect devices to a network.
Exposure to CCTV or AV systems (not required - training will be provided).
Experience using a ticketing system such as Jira, ServiceNow, or similar.
IT qualification in progress or completed - CompTIA IT Fundamentals, A+, or equivalent.
Any Linux experience would be considered an advantage.
