Business Operations Manager
Role Overview:
The Business Operations Manager is a critical partner to the VP of Operations, combining pragmatic thinking with hands-on operational support to ensure strategic goals are translated into outcomes and effective operational processes. In this role you will provide insight into leadership through data and reporting and drive initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and scalability across the organization. You will also enable the VP of Operations to operate at the maximum leverage day-to-day (prioritisation, follow-up, meeting prep, tracking actions, coordinating stakeholders). Overall, you will act as an operational “second brain”: turning ideas into plans, plans into actions, and actions into measurable results. You’ll work across the business – commercial, marketing, product, compliance, marketing, finance, customer operations – to make sure priorities are clear, owners are accountable, and timelines are hit.
Key Responsibilities:
Support to VP of Operations:
• Act as the coordination layer for the VP of Operations: Ensure priorities are aligned across teams, follow-ups happen, and nothing falls through the cracks.
• Prepare the VP of Operations for key internal and external meetings (briefing packs, data summaries, decision points).
• Capture actions and decisions from leadership meetings and ensure each has an owner, due date, and follow-through.
• Help with time/priorities management by highlighting what’s urgent or blocked, and what requires executive input versus what can be moved forward independently.
• Support with vendor/partner interactions, contract follow-up, due diligence, and light commercial coordination where relevant.
Business Insight & Decision Support:
• Bring an analytical lens: understand how operational initiatives impact cost, efficiency, revenue, player experience, retention, and regulatory risk.
• Build light financial models and business cases to support decision-making (ROI, headcount needs, vendor cost-benefit, etc.).
• Assist with budgeting, resource allocation, and cost-control measures.
• Support preparation of board/leadership materials by providing structured input, status summaries, and data.
Program & Project Management:
• Oversee key strategic and operational projects on behalf of the VP of Operations (e.g. new studio launch, market entry, process optimisation).
• Build and maintain clear project plans and risk logs. Drive accountability across teams by actively chasing deliverables and escalate when deadlines are at risk.
• Run regular check-ins to ensure blockers are surfaced and resolved quickly.
• Track, report, and communicate progress to leadership in a structured, concise way (dashboards, written updates, exec-ready slides).
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement:
• Map out and document core operational processes/workflows across the business; identify inefficiencies / gaps and propose pragmatic improvements.
• Help standardise and scale repeatable processes (e.g. reporting cadence, post-incident reviews, go-live checklists, market entry playbooks).
• Support the build and tracking of core operational KPIs, SLAs and compliance checks — particularly important in highly regulated environments like iGaming.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
• Act as a liaison to other departments (Finance, HR, Product, Technology, Commercial, Legal), ensuring alignment on expectations, timelines, and responsibilities.
• Translate high-level strategic goals from leadership into executable workstreams for each team.
• Ensure the “voice of Operations” is represented in planning, resourcing, and prioritisation discussions.
Confidentiality & Discretion:
• Handle highly sensitive information (roadmaps, expansion plans, regulatory items, performance topics) with absolute discretion and professionalism.
Qualifications & Skills:
• 4+ years of experience in business operations, operations management, program / project management, strategy & operations, chief-of-staff style roles, or similar.
• Strong preference for candidates who have directly supported senior leadership / executive stakeholders.
• Proven ability to independently manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects from idea through delivery.
• Demonstrates strong organisational and stakeholder management skills, proactively following up on actions, driving accountability, and ensuring clarity across the business.
• Excellent written and verbal communication: able to distil messy input into crisp status, risks, and decisions needed.
• High attention to detail and ownership mindset: you see gaps, anticipate issues, and fix them without waiting to be asked.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving, sometimes ambiguous environment where priorities can shift quickly.
• Solid understanding of core business functions (operations, product, marketing, compliance, finance, CX) and how they interlock.
• Advanced proficiency with standard productivity and planning tools (e.g. project tracking software, dashboards/spreadsheets, slide decks for leadership).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations, or similar (BBA or equivalent).
• MBA or other advanced business degree strongly preferred for breadth of commercial and cross-functional understanding.
• Experience in (or strong familiarity with) the iGaming / online gambling / sportsbook / casino / real-money gaming sector - including general awareness of regulatory and compliance considerations in the space.
